Challenge Carrie - Blogtember Advice

Today's BLOGTEMBER prompt is Pass on some useful advice or information you learned and always remembered

I was driving to work the other week, listening to Radio 2 (I've finally accepted that at 35 I have no idea who the bands are on Radio 1, or even what they are singing) when a song that got me through my angst-ridden late teens came on. This song has a lot of memories for me, when it was released my Dad always said that it was true and that he would repeat the words of this song as part of his "Father of the Bride" speech when I got married. Sadly he passed away before I found the man I hope to marry so the song has even greater meaning.

My Dad is on the right, with my uncle and brother

I thought I would just take out some of the lines of the song, rather than the whole thing, but a full version of the lyrics can be found here

Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen) - Words by Mary Schmich

Don't worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum.
Do one thing everyday that scares you.
Don't be reckless with other people's hearts, don't put up with people who are reckless with yours.
Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults.
Enjoy your body, use it everyway you can...don't be afraid of it, it's the greatest instrument you'll ever own.
Dance...even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room.
Do not read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.
Get to know your parents, you never know when they will be gone for good.
Respect your elders.
