Silence is Golden

After spending a few days in Holland I've experienced an electronics black out...no phone, no internet, no blog...and it actually felt very refreshing.

Coming back to 400 blog posts to read is going to be a bit of a challenge but hopefully I'll catch up in the next few days.

I'm going to do a catch up of all the different places we visited in Holland once I've looked through the photos, but there was one post that I had to start back with.

This week's 100 Word Challenge hosted by Julia's Place is very aptly "Silence" this week...without using the word itself.

At that moment in time the world stopped spinning.
The birds that chattered so loudly seconds before stopped their urgent conversations.
The noise of cars passing my window faded to nothing, as if the drivers are suddenly aware of my needs.
My breath stopped with a sharp intake.
And for a perceived lifetime there is nothing, no sound, movement or thoughts.
The telephone slips silently from my grip, suspended for a second in mid-air before dropping loudly onto the tiles.
Background noises return in a sudden burst of consciousness and I know that peace will be a long time returning.

  1. Powerful. That moment of silence when everything changes. Great!
