After a jam-packed second part of 2013 Sion and myself promised each other that we wouldn't get so busy in 2014. As he works a shift pattern of 4 days on, 4 days off we only have a few weekends every 6 weeks where we can do things together.
So far in January we've had birthday celebrations and family visiting for the weekend. My brother and his family stayed this weekend and despite the monsoon type weather we braved a walk along Portsmouth Esplanade to the Sealife Centre. My niece loves animals and as her Daddy has an aquarium I thought she would love looking at all the fishes...turns out not so much! She didn't like the sharks and the rays really freaked her out so we escaped pretty sharpish to the nearby Gunwharf Quays for medicinal pizza and apple juice!
We've managed to squeeze in finding a new house to move to and have found the perfect cottage type home a short walk from where we are currently living. The paperwork is still going through, but hopefully we will get the final agreement in the next few days. The next few weeks will be spent measuring up and ordering furniture. Ikea is my new friend, although the Southampton branch seems to be in the midst of a catalogue shortage so I'm limited to lunchtime internet browsing!
This weekend sees us ramping up our social activities, we're off to Cardiff on Saturday to watch Wales play in the Six Nations rugby tournament. I'm sure one or two pints of Guinness will be consumed before we head back home again on Sunday afternoon.
Looking further towards Easter we've got two more Wales games to watch live, lunch at Tom Kerridge's pub restaurant The Hand & Flowers, a trip to Northampton, glamping in Glastonbury and a weekend break in a stately hotel in Coventry!
Oh and life is about to get a whole lot busier too...
